MAWSLEY VILLAGE SURGERY NEWS – SEPTEMBER 2023

September has come and we said goodbye to Dr Oliver last week. We, as new partners of Mawsley Medical feel privileged to have be given the opportunity to run a very successful and well thought after practice. We would like to thank Dr Oliver and Jane for their tireless efforts in helping us reach this stage. Keith has worked extremely hard to ensure a smooth handover and Jane has somehow managed to juggle Dr Oliver’s retirement and 5 new partners, all whilst running a busy, high quality practice.

To reassure all patients, Mawsley will continue to run in its own identity and it will not be merged with Weavers Medical.

We welcome 2 new Doctors, Dr Mike Slip who started this week and Dr Paddy Leyden who is due to start in November. All existing staff will be remaining and again we are lucky to have such an amazing nursing, reception and dispensary team.

Dr Slip will be working Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and Dr Leyden will work on a Thursday and Friday.

Jane, the Practice Manager who has been with the practice since it started, will continue to manage the practice on a day to day basis with the support of the new partnership.

We have some exciting changes planned for November, when we will be moving to a new clinical system. This will provide patients with a system that integrates well with hospitals, out of hours and other community services.  We will encounter a couple of weeks of disruption and we will ask patients to be patient over this period. We will be therefore not be booking too far in advance after November, until the new system is in place.

Alongside the change to SystmOne (the new clinical system), we will also be upgrading the practice website. Work is in progress and we will let you know once the new site launches.

We urge all patients to register with the NHS app to ensure they can access their online medication requests.  NHS App and your NHS account – NHS (www.nhs.uk)

All patients who are registered at the practice will be allocated a new registered, named GP. This will be one of the GP partners. You can of course, see any clinician at the practice.
